The Czech firm, York, with a long tradition in toolmaking, makes this, heavy, solid and stabile vice. It can be rotated up to 45° by loosening a locking screw, so you can find a good position to get into hard-to-reach corners on work pieces. The top assembly on the locking screw can be exchanged for a standard M10 nut if the vice will only seldom be rotated or if one finds the tops get in the way on some projects. One can also mount the vice without the turning base plate. The main screw is closed up in a cylinder so as to hinder build up of dirt and debris that can wear the threads or block the movement. On the back of the vice there is a small anvil for light work. The cheeks are built from good quality steel and can be exchanged.
The generally very good fit and finish on the vice is marred only by the imperfect paint job, but considering the overall level of price, quality and function overall, this can easily be overlooked. Please note this vice does not have a stop at the end of the main thread, overturning will result in the winding mechanism turning freely. Despite this, the front jaw of the vice doesn't fall free of the main body. To remove the front jaw, it needs to be pulled out a further 5 cm.

The HEUER Table-Clamp is perfect for fastening the vice firmly to the working plate. With it, the vice -without the necessity of boring holes- can be mounted and removed from the working plate rapidly and without damage. This frees up space on the work surfaces and avoids the time-consuming mounting and removal of the whole vice from the workbench.

They have a strong basic form made out of Aluminium or are produced completely out of Polyurethane (PP and PR). The profile is right-angled and the faces are flat and parallel; the high precision of the HEUER vices are maintained. The integral special magnets hold the Magnefix jaw blocks securely on the vice. Despite extremely high magnetic force, the magnetism does not penetrate the clamping faces, so that neither the clamping force of the blocks is affected, nor a magnetising of the piece takes place.
