ADRIA dovetail and tenon saws are guaranteed to cut straight and fast. They are handcrafted one at a time and each saw is tuned-up and tested. The saw passes the test once it makes a full depth, absolutely straight cut in hardwood. The hardness of the steel used for blades is RC54, which is harder than in any of the competing saws. This means that your saw will require infrequent sharpening. This saw will cut very aggressively because of the precise sharpening. The maker does a test cut with every saw before it is shipped and makes sure that it cuts flawlessly. The saw that you receive will cut fast, track straight and leave thin kerf. A lot of attention has been paid to the design of the handle. This handle fits to your hand like a glove. The handle is made out of Bubinga and has a pleasant red-brown tone. ADRIA TOOLS are produced in Vancouver/Canada.

THOMAS FLINN, a manufacturer in Sheffield, produces what are probably the finest industrial made of all saws made to the European design. "A cut above the rest" is the firm’s motto, and with it they put on the market solid-brass-backed saws, most painstakingly manufactured. Their "PAX" range, which takes its name from a trademark launched in 1776 and revived by Thomas Flinn, is here presented. These saws are not only practical, they are a joy to behold. The blades have been aligned and offset with great care, for a cut that runs true and smooth. These saws can be sharpened with a sawfile. Our handsaws come from Sheffield, you will find the superb products of THOMAS FLINN, which can be resharpened. A handsaw with hardened teeth and a coated blade is offered by BAHCO - not resharpenable.

VERITAS Carcass Saws

These saws carry forward the same design principles Veritas used to develop the innovative dovetail saws, adopting selected traits of traditional carcass saws and rendering them using innovative materials and modern manufacturing methods.

Typically used to cut joints in drawer runners, dividers, and stretchers (the framework or carcass of a piece), they are well balanced, maneuverable, and scaled for smaller work than a tenon saw.

Available in rip and crosscut versions. The 12 tpi (2.1 mm) rip saw has a 10° rake angle and an included angle of 60° for efficient cutting parallel to the grain. The 14 tpi (1.8 mm) crosscut saw has a rake angle of 15%deg;, an included angle of 60°, and teeth filed with alternating 15° bevels so they sever wood fibers rather than tear them. The teeth on each have relatively minimal set, at only 0.003" (0,1 mm) per side.

Each saw has a molded spine that incorporates stainless-steel powder for weight, glass fiber for stiffness, and an advanced polymer binder. An over-molded blade and stainless-steel handle-mounting bolt create a solid one-piece blade/spine/mount assembly. A single brass fastener secures the bubinga handle. The open-grip handle, made larger than those of classic carcass saws, permits a comfortable, secure grip. The high-carbon steel blade, 11" (279 mm) long and 0.02" (0.5 mm) thick, has a cut depth of about 2-3/8" (60 mm). Each saw is 16-3/8" (416 mm) long overall and weighs just under a pound.
